Memebership Frequently Asked Questions

How many memberships are available?

Our membership programmes are limited to only 80 VIP memberships and 50 Premium + memberships.  If you are interested in one of the membership programmes join now so you don’t miss out.

If the membership programme is sold out, there will be a wait list for us to contact you when a membership slot opens up.

What is the Joining Fee?

Unlike most membership programmes available, our Salon Membership has no joining fee. The entire membership value paid ($99 or $199) will go directly onto your account, for use in the salon.

How do I cancel my membership?

Your membership cancellation will need to be in writing to Shanga. Simply email your request to support@shanga.com.au. We must receive your cancellation email prior to the 20th of the current month to allow time for processing. Your payments will then stop as soon as processed. If you do not cancel prior to the 20th of the month, a payment may still come out of your account on the 1st of the following month. Your membership will still be active until the end of the month that your final payment is taken. The minimum length of a membership program is 3 months, be sure to only apply for cancellation after you have passed the 3 month minimum subscription time frame.

What happens if my Direct Debit fails?

We will attempt to contact you to rectify it by phone and by email.  If we cannot contact you with in 3 days, your membership will be automatically cancelled. Any cancellation fees or direct debit fail fees imposed by the bank to Shanga will be on-charged to you or deducted from any credit on your account, whether or not a successful payment is made after the first failed attempt.

Your membership benefits will be on hold until a successful payment is made.

If we cannot reach you for a further 3 days, your membership will be cancelled and your slot will be offered to the first person on the waiting list for your assigned programme.

What happens to my credit after I cancel or my payment fails?

Any money on your account will still be active and able to be used.

If your payments fail, your membership will cease immediately, and you will not benefit from any discounts in the membership programme.

How do I freeze my account if needed?

Freezing your salon membership is not possible.  If you need a break from the subscription, you can cancel your membership, then sign up again when you are ready to continue.

Please be sure to follow the cancellation procedure, so you don’t incur any cancellation fees passed on by payment failures.

As there is a waiting list for each membership programme, there is no guarantee that a slot will be available to you when or if you decide to re-subscribe.

Can my family use my membership?

If you have signed up for our Premium + Membership package, you can assign any 2 direct family members to your account to enjoy your membership discounts.  These family members must be assigned to your Premium + membership for the duration of your subscription.

You can change your assigned family members when your membership programme renews at the 12 month mark.  This change must be in writing to the salon.

What happens if I don't show up for my appointment?

If you do not turn up to a booked appointment, this is classed as a “No Show”.  Full credit for the booked appointment will be deducted from your account for any no show bookings.

If you cannot make a booked appointment please contact the salon immediately when you know you cannot make it.  Please just don’t turn up.  It is not our aim to deduct money from your account without providing a service for you.

What happens if I cancel my appointment with less than 24hrs notice?

If you cancel your appointment with less then 24 hours notice, full credit or partial credit may be deducted from your account for the appointment that is cancelled.  Payment will only be taken if the time slot that you cancelled your appointment for has not been filled by another client.

As you can imagine, it is much easier for our Salon Manager to fill an appointment time if we are given 20 hours notice rather than 1 hours notice.  With that in mind, please give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel any appointments.

The Salon Manager will do their best to fill that time with another client.  If we are unable to fill that time and need to deduct from your salon credit, we will let you know via email.


Can I send someone in my place to have my appointment so I technically am not cancelling?

Yes, someone else can come to your appointment time (they do not have to have the same exact service, just fill the full time slot). However, they cannot  use your membership programme discounts.

I didn't use my full credit this month. Can I have a refund?

Refunds are not possible on the membership programme.  Any money paid on your account that is not used during that month will accumulate, and can be used at any time in the future.

This is a great way to save for bigger ticket services that you have been wanting to try, or for saving for Christmas gifts.

If you are on our Premium + membership, and find you are accumulating a large amount on your account, you might like to consider downgrading your membership.  However, you will lose the additional benefits, and greater discounts if you do.

Can I upgrade / downgrade my membership?

Yes, it is possible to adjust your membership programme.  Just like our membership cancellation, any salon membership changes must be made in writing prior to the 20th of the current month, to allow time for administration and adjustments.

Will I still earn reward points?

No.  Earning loyalty points will pause while your membership is active.  The discounts available with your salon membership far exceed our general loyalty point programme.

Are there any other fees with the membership?

There is a $9 fee for dishonoured transactions we pass on from our bank
